Our Day With Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Built To Amaze in Miami

Yesterday we had the wonderful opportunity to experience the Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Built To Amaze in Miami at the American Airlines Arena. Amaze is the 143rd edition of the "Greatest Show on Earth". The show runs through January 20, 2014 in Miami. See below for a coupon code / discount code to get tickets for as low as $10.

Our experience started with the Animal Open House. 90 minutes before the show starts we were able to get an up close view of the elephants, horses and tigers. When I say up close, it really was as close as we have ever been to a tiger. There were only a few feet separating up (and 2 metal fences). It was amazing to say the least. It was great to not only see the animals up close but also how they are cared for during their stay. It is well worth attending the Animal Open house and is free to all guests with your paid admission.

The All Access Pre-show was the next activity in the Amaze experience. An hour before the show starts, Children Of All Ages are invited down to the show floor to meet the performers, get their picture taken with the fun and friendly clowns, play in the bounce house, dance, sing and learn some circus skills. We also watched an elephant paint and you could enter to win the original pachyderm painting.

Our daughter (even at 3) was very excited to be a part of the show, danced and even got some lessons in jumping rope from Pre-show Host, Ashley Vargas. Today she is still talking about the Pre-show and has a temporary tattoo on her hand as a fun reminder.

Built To Amaze was the perfect name for the show. We were no less than amazed. The Ringmaster, Andre McClain is charismatic and a definite star of the show.

From the aerialists to the acrobats there was a lot of excitement. The acrobats seemed to defy gravity with their performance. The high wire walkers were amazing and it was hard to not cover my eyes. You can see the dedication and talent that goes into performing these acts. The music, pyrotechnics and lights added to the pure excitement and suspense of all of the performances. The performers were really amazing.

The beautiful elephant and tiger performances were also wonderful. Our daughter loved clowns, watching the poodles perform and the rabbit magic show with Alex and Irina Emelin.

Neither my husband nor myself had been to see the circus since we were children. The Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Built To Amaze far exceeded our expectations. This show was nothing like we remember as children and truly lived up to the "Greatest Show On Earth". The Pre-Show activities are a well worth arriving early and may have our favorite parts of the show. It was a wonderful family experience and would definitely be something we would love to see the next time the circus comes to town.

  2. It's been a long time since I've been to a circus. Ringling Bros. is the one I used to go to when I did the circus thing though. I love the daredevil acts like trapeze, etc.
