Mia's First Day of School Pictures {DIY Chalkboard Canvas}

Last week was Mia's first day of school!!!! We are sending her part-time to a Montessori program. I cannot believe she is almost 3. She looks so grown up, all of that baby face is gone. Where has the time gone? She is loving her school and can't wait until her next day. I will admit it was hard to leave her there for the first time. . . I was the one with tears, not her.

Although she is wearing a uniform for school we are dolling it up with bows and such. I found this matching green bow at Hobby Lobby during our trip to Cocoa Beach (I WISH we had a Hobby Lobby in South Florida!). Her ruffle socks are from Gymboree, they look adorable with her little chocolate brown Isabella PediPed shoes.

I wanted to make something special to commemorate her first day so I spray painted a canvas (from Michael's) with chalkboard paint and decorated with some Ikea chalk we had on hand from Mia's easel. The plan is to update the chalkboard for her last day of school also. Hopefully I can persuade her to let me continue through high school. It will be nice to look back on these one day. I had hoped to take these pictures outside but it was soooo humid that I couldn't keep my lens from fogging up. Guess I should have put on the filter I got for Mother's Day. Lesson. Learned.

Anyone else taking special pictures for the first day of school?

  8. How cute and perfect! The sign is adorable, and she looks so happy and ready. I'm sure she is excited and a little nervous just like her mommy. Good idea to "doll" up the uniform. Give it some personality and style to make her feel good. A great way to start the day. Hope it went well and she had lots of stories for you.

  9. To cute now... when she's a teenager you have ammo to use. Princess Sophia. Dad can show it to her dates so they know they have to treat her like a princess.
