Sharing The Most Cherished Sights In My Life

Saturday and Sunday, April 14 and 15, 2012 in Miami is the Great Taste of the Grove Food and Wine Festival. Another fantastic event to enjoy with your family. One of the fantastic sponsors of the event is Transitions Lenses along with Sears Optical. This weekend at the event you can also have a chance to take part in free vision screenings and the Ultimate Sightseeing Experience! SocialMoms has teamed up with Transitions Lenses to sponsor an opportunity for me to share with you the most cherished sights in my life.

My most cherished sight is my family. We continually strive to have one quality family activity a week. We build cherished family memories as well as get to know the great city of Miami and all of the wonderful things it has to offer. We are so fortunate to be able to spend most of the year outdoors. A few weeks ago we ventured to Jungle Island. Honestly, between the three of us I am not sure who enjoyed it more.
There are a lot of animals to see, some of which you could even get up close to as well one on one encounters. As warm as it was there is a lot of shade for both the animals and visitors. The shows are fantastic as well as educational.
My favorite activity is feeding the kangaroos. As you can see my daughter enjoyed it as well! Although I know the petting zoo was her favorite! She was so excited to give that goat a bottle and she didn't want any assistance.
Jungle Island is very close to Miami Beach. There is a fantastic family owned bakery called the Charlotte Bakery. It has delicious pastries as well as some amazing Latin American foods! We also love the Miami Seaquarium. There are a lot of outdoor places to have lunch and shop, the Boy Meets Girl children's boutique is such a cute place to pop into. Recently the famous Serendipity opened on Lincoln Road. We shared a to die for ice cream sundae. It was serendipitous!
Not that it happens often anymore but for an adults only night my favorite spots are the D'vine Hookah Lounge on Lincoln Road and Nikki Beach in South Beach! There are so many places we have yet to see, I am hoping we can explore the Vizcaya museum and gardens soon. There are so many wonderful city parks with fantastic amenities. How thankful I am for my vision, I cannot imagine not seeing these moments. Watching the joy and amazement in my daughter's eyes is priceless. There is one thing you can guarantee, I will have my camera in hand to preserve our family memories for the years to come. Enter the Official Sponsor of Sightseeing™ Sight of the Day Photo Contest for your chance to win the Ultimate Sightseeing Dream Vacation!
Healthy vision is a key factor is ensuring my family and I are able to have and experience our cherished sights. Did you know that 50% of vision loss can be prevented by a simple eye exam? I cannot imagine something so tragic happening when it is so easy to possibly prevent! Pledge to care for your family's vision by signing the Family Eye Promise. Besides damage to our precious loved ones sight, an average of 1 in 4 children have an undetected eye problem that can even interfere with their ability to learn to read and write.

Besides regular eye exams you can also make sure you eat a balanced diet and get regular exercise. Drinking at least 8 - 10 glasses of water a day to keep your body and eyes hydrated is essential during our hot South Florida summers. Avoid rubbing your eyes and try to take breaks while reading or working at a computer for an extended period of time. Don't forget your sunscreen and UV protective clothing! Even a sun hat or baseball cap can help. If you wear glasses you can also opt for an everyday eyewear, like Transitions lenses, that automatically block 100 percent of UV rays.
