My Favorite Things About Easter

SocialMoms and the new movie Hop (This looks like such a cute movie and I cannot wait to see it) have teamed up to find out what people's favorite things about Easter are. I absolutely love Easter. There are a lot of things about this time of year that bring so much joy.

One of my favorite things about Easter is the time of year. Spring brings out the all pretty flowers I love and enjoy and the green grass we all love to play in. I love new Easter dresses and shoes. A family dinner with ham and all of the yummy fixings. This is my first Easter as a mom and we are looking forward to celebrating this Easter as a family.

But of all things I love about Easter, my absolute favorite thing is putting together the perfect Easter basket! I love taking my time and putting a lot of thought and heart into it. I make sure it is perfectly arranged and wrapped with cellophane and tied with a pretty bow. Of course there are always jelly beans and a chocolate bunny, but it always starts with the basket. I try not to get a traditional basket but rather something that can be used after the treats are gone. I love finding creative things to use as a basket rather it be a small laundry basket, big mixing bowl or even a decorative storage box.

I also look for things that the intended gift recipient will use and love. For my husband (yes, he gets an Easter basket) I find his favorite magazines, little gadgets and gizmo's. A couple years ago I got him a really cook avocado slicer kitchen thing (we both love to cook) and he loved it. I search for unusual candy like a chocolate bacon bar I came across recently. This year, I know iPad accessories will be a hit (shh, don't tell).

Most of all this year I am really looking forward to doing the same for our daughter. She isn't quite old enough for died eggs and chocolate bunnies. I have cute bibs, fun flavors of baby puffs and teething crackers, little toys and probable a few cute hair accessories in mind. I am sure I can find lots of things my baby will love and I will love doing it even more!

Our first Easter as a family will be a memorable one and we will spend the day as a family. Although living in Florida, it may include time at the pool. Our nontraditional day will conclude with a traditional Easter dinner.

I hope my favorite things about Easter inspire ideas for you. Do you have any favorite things about Easter? I would love to hear them!
About Hop:
Blending state of the art animation with live action, Hop is a comedy about E.B. (voiced by Russell Brand), the teenage son of the Easter Bunny. On the eve of taking over the family business, E.B. leaves for Hollywood in pursuit of his dream of becoming a drummer. Once there, he encounters Fred (James Marsden of the X-Men series, Enchanted), recently fired and determined to pull his life together. Feigning injury, E.B. persuades Fred to take him in, and Fred finds himself living with the world’s worst houseguest. Back on Easter Island, the Easter Bunny’s second in command, an oversized chick named Carlos, seizes E.B.’s disappearance as an opportunity to plot a coup. Ultimately, Fred and E.B. are Easter’s only hope and they find themselves returning to Easter Island, locked in an epic battle to save the beloved holiday. The film is helmed by Tim Hill, director of the blockbuster Alvin and the Chipmunks and produced by Chris Meledandri’s Illumination Entertainment (Despicable Me).
