Simple Changes for the New Year

SocialMoms and Simple Orange Juice have teamed up with an opportunity to write about simple changes to make my life better in the new year. As a wife and mom of a 4 month old baby girl things can get pretty hectic. Between the lack of sleep and time, it is really hard to get things done.
My simple changes for the new year are going to be getting better organized and to cook more meals at home. By doing this I really feel that I will have more time and patience as both a wife and mother as well as helping me take off those last pregnancy pounds.

My first step to get organized is going to be clearing out all of the clutter. It is amazing how fast magazines, mail and miscellaneous items just clutter up your life. I know having this extra clutter in my life makes me easily distracted and just plain unhappy. My plan to tackle this starts with throwing things away, right away. When new magazines come in, I plan to get rid of the old issue. I am not going to buy things on impulse anymore. If I don't need it or really want it then I am not going to let it clutter my life. I am also going to take on one area at a time in reorganizing and either donating or throwing away unneeded  and unwanted items. I have already started with my closet. I have taken out all of the clothes that no longer fit and actually was able to give a lot to my sister during her recent visit. It was a win-win for both of us.

It was really easy to fall into ordering delivery and carry-out after Mia was born, I mean really easy. This bad new habit is both expensive and really unhealthy. Along with getting more organized, I also plan to make more meals at home. Don't get me wrong, I love going out to eat. I just love it a little too much. We are in the process of paying off what debt we have as well as saving for a house and I really think this will have a huge impact in so many ways. I am going to start planning ahead for the week so that I am not asking myself at 4:00 P.M. what I plan on making for dinner that night. If I already have everything in the house I think I will be able to overcome ordering that all to convenient curb side carry-out.

Being a better organized household is going to make me a better wife and mom. Not to mention a healthier one. What are your goals for the New Year? Do you have any simple changes you are implementing in your life? I look forward to hearing yours!
