The Savvy and Sassy Family is Growing!

We have some exciting and long awaited news to share. The Savvy and Sassy family is growing by two feet. We feel so blessed and our hearts are full. We are also very excited and happily on team pink for the second time. Baby #2 is being endearingly referred to as "P2" (Princess #2), at least until we have decided on a name.

Mia could not be any more excited to be a big sister. We waited until I was about 14 weeks pregnant to tell her even though I think she knew something was going on. We held a small tea party for her in our front yard and gave her gifts of this big sister book (Amazon) and an adorable big sister dress I found on Etsy. She cannot wait for her little "sissy" to arrive in January.

Having another baby has been something we have been wanting for quite some time and unfortunately came with challenges. Between pregnancy loss and infertility struggles we have been there and our hearts and prayers go out to all of those who are there now.

We are excited and look forward to sharing our journey to finally becoming a family of four.

Home Staging - Tips For Selling Your Home For Top Dollar Quickly

Here are some of the ideas we used to sell our South Florida home for top dollar in a short period of time. Best of luck on your real estate adventure!

Selling a home can be overwhelming. The ultimate goal of most sellers is to get the most possible for their property. To do so your home needs to looks it's absolute best at all times. You never get a second chance to make a great first impression. You can hire a professional home stager or follow this simple guide to do it yourself and save money along the process.

Curb Appeal
The first thing a potential buyer will see is the front of your home. You want it to be clean and welcoming. Make sure your lawn and shrubs are healthy and manicured. Walkways should be clean and swept. Flowers are a simple and inexpensive way to make your house inviting. A simple potted plant in a bright and cheery color will go a long ways. If time permits you can grow your own from seed. Petunias and pansies are great spring and summer choices, marigolds and chrysanthemums are perfect for fall. Topiaries in a pot are also a fantastic choice and the best part is that they can go with you to your new home.

Clean, clean and then clean some more
Your home cannot be too clean when you are selling it. The cleaner, the better. Bathrooms and kitchens sell homes and unfortunately they are usually the dirtiest and messiest places in a home. Deep cleaning followed by regular maintenance will allow potential buyers to see the beauty of your home (not last night's dishes). I am a huge fan of those fantastic magic sponges. They work amazingly on walls, cabinets and tubs. Your home shouldn't smell of anything other than clean. Scented candles and plugins are unnecessary if your home is kept clean and fresh.

Decor
Your home should be clutter free with simple decor. Neutral colors are the best option. Potential buyers are more likely to envision themselves in the home. Rugs are a great way to anchor a room, they can also be quite inexpensive. By adding a few (groups of three are best) apothecary jars and simple fillers the decor of this dining room is complete.

Think Spa!
When it comes to bedrooms and bathrooms think about a spa or even a fancy hotel. All surfaces should be clear and clean with the exception of a few simple decor items. A stylish white duvet can make any bedroom look great. White fluffy towels in bathrooms are also very appealing. Make sure all beauty products/toothbrushes are stored out of sight. Waste baskets should be emptied. Potential buyers do not want to see those things. (Make sure potty lids are always down!!!! I cannot stress this enough.)

Turn on all lights and open all window coverings prior to a showing or open house. Light and bright spaces look larger and more appealing. Using these tips should help you get the most money for your home. A little spent in the right areas will bring back a lot more in return getting you top dollar on your home.

We Are Now The Parents of a Kindergartner

Holy cow Batman, we are the parents of a Kindergartner!! Today was the first day of school for us in North Georgia. Once again we continued the tradition of taking first day of school pictures with our canvas chalkboard. Having the same chalkboard/photo prop in each of the pictures really shows how much our little has grown.

This was also the first year she cried when we left and man it was heartbreaking!

Ok mamas, are you ready for school to start?

InStyler TULIP Auto Curler {Review}

If you are like me you cannot get your hair to curl let alone stay curly. I was beyond excited to have the opportunity to try the new Instyler TULIP Auto Curler as part of a blogging campaign.

The new Instyler TULIP Auto Curler can create soft curls, beach waves and gorgeous tight curls. It has 2-way rotation allowing you to choose to curl left, right or even alternate directions (I use this setting for natural looking curls). In addition there are also 3 heat and 3 timer settings. The Instyler TULIP Auto Curler is great for naturally straight/wavy hair that are a thin to medium texture. If you have naturally curly hair you can still use the Instyler TULIP Auto Curler, you just need to blow your hair straight first.

I must say that I was a little lot intimidated by this InStyler hair tool. This is a pretty serious hair tool so if you are not the type to read and follow instructions then this is not the hair tool for you. After reading the instructions and watching a video I was ready to give it a try.

The Instyler TULIP Auto Curler does take getting the hang of. I admit I did get my hair caught in twice the first time using it (I immediately pulled the plug and proceeded to yank my hair out, leaving quite a bit behind). Once I figured it out it was a breeze. The curls I got in my hair were beautiful and lasted thru the next day (don't judge...I'm an every other day wash girl).

For those of you who desire beautiful curls but do not have the time to spend hours on your hair then this is what you have been looking for. I have long hair and a lot of it, both a blessing and a curse. By using the InStyler TULIP Auto Curler for first time EVER I have been able to curl my entire head in less than 30 minutes. My curls are beautiful and long lasting.

I truly love this tool and plan on using it often. The InStyler TULIP Auto Curler may not be for everyone but luckily InStyler has two other new styling tools, the InStyler Max 2-Way Rotating Iron and also the InStyler Ionic Styler Pro, which is a Hot Brush/Flat Iron.

Guy Penrod's "Christmas" {Album Review}

Christmas music is one of my favorite things to enjoy during the Christmas season. I was really excited to have the opportunity to review the new Christmas album from Guy Penrod simply titled "Christmas" as part of an opportunity with Family Christian.

If you have never heard of Guy Penrod, he is an award winning Gospel artist with a beautiful voice. This new CD, which released earlier this year is a fantastic compilation of traditional Christmas favorites such as the Twelve Days of Christmas and O Holy Night. It has a fun hint of Country music style and features Amy Grant and Vince Gill in Guy's rendition of Tennessee Christmas.

Christmas will be a Christmas season music staple in our home this year and for years to come. Our family has listened to it many times already and it truly in an album that you can enjoy entirely. I cannot pick a favorite song on this CD because they are all truly wonderful. This would be an excellent gift and a great way to help keep you in the Christmas spirit.

Buy It
Christmas by Guy Penrod is available in Family Christian Stores as well as on the Family Christian website. The CD is currently retailing for $13.99. You can listen to samples of the album as well as purchase digital downloads of either the entire album for $11.49 or individual songs for $1.29.

Family Christian stores have a fantastic selection of Christian books, music, gifts, and more. For more information you can also find Family Christian on Facebook or follow Family Christian on Twitter.

Merry Christmas and Happy Listening.

Dollywood Smoky Mountain Christmas {Review}

Disclosure: The Savvy and Sassy family will received complimentary tickets for the purpose purpose of writing a review, no monetary compensation will be/was received. Any opinions expressed are based solely on our family’s experience.

We just got back from Pigeon Forge, Tennessee where the Savvy and Sassy family had the amazing opportunity to visit Dollywood. We were at Dollywood for the Smoky Mountain Christmas as part of a blogging opportunity with US Family Guide. The Smoky Mountain Christmas runs at Dollywood with daily events through January 3, 2015.

Dollywood is one of the top themed entertainment destinations in the US. The 150 acre family adventure park is filled with mountain themed attractions, world class rides and award winning festivals and shows.

This was our first visit to Dollywood and we had an amazing time. Our visit to Dollywood was a day packed with fun in a family friendly environment. There are Christmas activities everywhere. From the fantastic production of Dollywoods A Christmas Carol to the night time Parade of Lights there wasn't a minute without Christmas fun.

Our daughter's favorite part of the day was the visit to Rudolph’s Holly Jolly Junction where she met Clarice and Bumble at the character experience. There were also games and activities to keep her entertained for quite a while.

The amazing treats at Dollywood will definitely keep you hungry. With the cooler weather there were lots of areas selling hot apple cider and hot chocolate. You could also roast marshmallows. The aroma of cinnamon almonds, kettle corn and the homemade cinnamon bread (My husband said it was delicious) filled air. The handmade candy canes and peppermint taffy are a delectable treat that would be perfect for Christmas giving.

Being gluten free I was a little hesitant about eating at a theme park. I was incredibly surprised by variety of dining options available for me. We chose to dine at Aunt Granny's which is an all you can eat buffet. I obviously had concerns but the friendly wait staff was happy to explain my options and even brought me turkey without gravy and stuffing from the back kitchen. My meal was enjoyable and most importantly, I felt great after eating it.

If you are visiting Dollywood and have food allergies or dietary concerns, make sure you visit Guest Services to get information on their impressive "Start Fresh" program. Start Fresh allows Guests to make an informed dining decision by providing them with a notebook that provides a full list of ingredients for each menu item. In addition to the steps the restaurant staff will follow to ensure you have a positive dining experience. If you have severe food allergies Dollywood does recommend you call in advance to your trip.

One of our favorite activities as a family of the day was the ride aboard the Dollywood Express. The Dollywood Express is an authentic 110-ton coal-fired steam engine took us on a five-mile ride through the beautiful foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. Make sure you get some hot cocoa for your ride.

We also got to see Santa at his workshop (it was a fantastic place to warm up), visited the beautiful Nativity outside of Dolly's Chapel, enjoyed the beautiful music of the Appalachian Christmas and marveled in the beauty of thousands of Christmas lights lighting up the park.

We truly enjoyed our visit to Dollywood, it was an amazing Christmas time experience. I look forward to visiting again during the summer to enjoy the water rides. For more information about Dollywood and their Christmas Memories package visit the Dollywood website. There are also special promotions for tickets, from now until January 2nd, arrive after 6pm and get the next day free. You can also find Dollywood on Facebook or follow Dollywood on Twitter and Instagram.

PRESS RELEASE:

RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER VISITS DOLLYWOOD
FOR SMOKY MOUNTAIN CHRISTMAS NOV. 8- JAN. 3
Crowd-Favorite Dollywood's A Christmas Carol Returns

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (October 28, 2014) - With four million dazzling lights, award-winning entertainment and delicious food options, Dollywood's Smoky Mountain Christmas presented by Humana (Nov. 8- Jan. 3) certainly features something for every member of the family. This year, however, it may be the festival's special visitors which put smiles on guests' faces.

Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, the beloved Christmas television special, comes to life with an exclusive visit to Dollywood this holiday season. Guests can meet Rudolph and his friends, including Clarice, Bumble the Abominable Snow Monster and Yukon Cornelius in Rudolph's Holly Jolly Junction, a magical area where festive fun awaits.

After meeting Rudolph and his friends, families can head to Clarice's kitchen to decorate custom Christmas cookies or even take part in a few reindeer games! Guests even can make their picture in a giant snow globe featuring Sam the Snowman.

Returning this year is the groundbreaking production of Dollywood's A Christmas Carol, which uses holographic technology to bring Dolly Parton to the stage as the Ghost of Christmas Past. Last season, guests marveled at the lifelike appearance of Parton and the other holograms featured in the production.

"I'm so glad we're able to add Rudolph and his friends to our Smoky Mountain Christmas," said Parton. "With all of the beautiful lights and decorations, it truly is the most special time of year at my Dollywood. Why they're even going to bring back that hologram of me! I'm still not sure this world is ready for two Dolly Partons, but I'm excited folks can see 'the other Dolly' help ole Scrooge understand what truly makes the holidays special."

Parton's Ghost of Christmas Past, Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmases Present and Future are life-sized holograms, marking the first time four actors appear via the cutting-edge technology in the same theatrical production. This heartwarming tale about the transformation of Ebenezer Scrooge features a 16-member cast, fully orchestrated musical tracks and period costuming.

A seven-time winner for Best Christmas Event, Smoky Mountain Christmas continues through Jan. 3, 2015. Operating days and hours vary; visit Dollywood.com for details. Several other beloved shows return, including Christmas in the Smokies, An Appalachian Christmas, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, O' Holy Night, Christmas with The Kingdom Heirs and Carol of the Trees. Guests also can experience the nightly Parade of Lights, a festive procession of larger-than-life toys and characters, as well as Santa's Workshop, where the smallest guests can share their wish list with Kris Kringle.

Dollywood's popular Smoky Mountain Miniature Railroad returns with a multi-level display featuring several model trains snaking through an elaborate and beautifully decorated miniature landscape. This kid-favorite attraction pulls in to the station at the Wings of America stage in Craftsman's Valley.

Families can finish their visit with a traditional Christmas meal as several of Dollywood's menus feature holiday-themed items. Among the favorites are roasted turkey breast, Cades Cove pit ham, sweet tea baked chicken, sweet potato casserole and cornbread dressing. Holiday desserts available throughout the park include pumpkin pie, red velvet cake, sweet potato pie, pumpkin rolls and homemade fruit cakes.

Smoky Mountain Christmas guests can upgrade a paid one-day admission ticket to a regular 2015 season pass for just $30 (plus tax). Ticket purchasers receive credit for the value of a one-day ticket ($59) toward the purchase of a 2015 season pass. A season pass purchased during Smoky Mountain Christmas provides unlimited admission to this year's Christmas festival along with Dollywood's entire 2015 season. (A one-day ticket is valid for upgrade on the day of visit only.) Also, guests who purchase a Dollywood one-day ticket after 6 p.m. receive free admission to the park's next operating day.
