Is Your Child In The Right Car Seat?

b341afef-2150-45f9-b9c4-8011e40a274e For most of us, grabbing our gear and running out to the car and heading to appointments, play dates, work and daycare are a regular every day thing. When we have little ones, we put them in their car seat and buckle them up without a second thought to whether or not they are in the right seat. We trust that they are safe – and we go on our way. Unfortunately, that may not be the case. Every 33 seconds a child under 13 is involved in a car crash in the United States! Car seats, if used correctly, can dramatically reduce the risk of fatality or injury. But over half of car seats are misused in a way that could reduce their effectiveness and 1 in 3 children killed in car crashes are completely unrestrained at the time of the crash. Can you imagine? Thinking that your child is in the right car seat, only to find out that they aren’t! So what do you choose? Infant, convertible, or booster seat? Finding the right car seat and installing it correctly is no easy task. Then there's the question of when to transition your child to another type of car seat. Step 1 -> Find the right car seat based on:
Step 2 -> Install your car seat correctly
Step 3 -> Register your car seat
Step 4 -> Get recall notifications on your car seat
fd39f709-8ee2-47f3-b425-070c16b74854 Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children 1 to 13 years old. Many times deaths and injuries can be prevented by proper use of car seats, booster seats, and seat belts. By working with the Ad Council and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) we hope to get out a message that will educate parents and caregivers about the importance of selecting the right seat for their child’s age and size, and to remind them that car seats, booster seats and seat belts offer the best protection for children in crashes and help save lives. Get this message out to your friends and family!

Like most families today, technology is a big thing in our home. When given the opportunity to receive the new Kidizoom Smartwatch DX in Vivid Violet from VTech for the purpose of a blog review, I knew our daughter would love it. In fact she doesn't want to take it off.

VTech is introducing the next generation of the award-winning Kidizoom® Smartwatch, the VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX. Not only does the new Kidizoom Smartwatch DX offer a higher performance than the original, with better specs including double the internal memory, improved image quality and new features, the sleek, stylish smartwatch is the perfect accessory to any fashion forward fall outfit!

  • The VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX is an even smarter watch for kids with better specs including double the internal memory and improved image quality, plus new features such as exciting motion-activated games, eye-catching 3D clock faces and new tools to hone basic math skills
  • Young photographers can take tons of pictures and videos and get creative with fun photo effects, video camera and voice recorder with voice-changing effects
  • In addition to the alarm, timer and stopwatch, the Kidizoom Smartwatch DX has 2 new tools including a calendar feature and a calculator so your child can work out simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division problems

  • More than just a watch, it's the VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX!

There are a lot of things I love about the VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX. First and most importantly, our 5 year old daughter loves it and has no difficulty using it on her own. As a mom I love that it has a long battery life, we charge ours at the end of each day. I also love that it is splash proof, because accidents do happen. Our daughter loves playing the games, including the time teaching app Time Master and encouraging fun learning is always one of our goals. She loves being able to express creativity with the camera and photo effects available. She enjoys using the pedometer to track her steps, another great way to encourage physical activity. Maybe even best of all, it even has a volume control!!!

Making Home Affordable - Getting Foreclosure Assistance

The financial difficulties that many families are facing in today's tough economic times are not only heartbreaking but more common than you may even know. If you or someone you love if facing foreclosure, you are not alone. There is help available, here is some information that may be able to help you get through this difficult time.

So many families are in financial distress, that is why I’m reaching out to you today through this sponsored Foreclosure Assistance Campaign on behalf of the Ad Council, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to ask for your support in spreading the word that real help is available to families who are behind on their mortgage payments, or worried about how they will make the next one. Nearly one in 17 homeowners nationwide has fallen behind on his or her mortgage payments, putting them at a higher risk of foreclosure. Homeowners should not feel alone, but many do.

The Savvy and Sassy Family is Growing!

We have some exciting and long awaited news to share. The Savvy and Sassy family is growing by two feet. We feel so blessed and our hearts are full. We are also very excited and happily on team pink for the second time. Baby #2 is being endearingly referred to as "P2" (Princess #2), at least until we have decided on a name.

Mia could not be any more excited to be a big sister. We waited until I was about 14 weeks pregnant to tell her even though I think she knew something was going on. We held a small tea party for her in our front yard and gave her gifts of this big sister book (Amazon) and an adorable big sister dress I found on Etsy. She cannot wait for her little "sissy" to arrive in January.

Having another baby has been something we have been wanting for quite some time and unfortunately came with challenges. Between pregnancy loss and infertility struggles we have been there and our hearts and prayers go out to all of those who are there now.

We are excited and look forward to sharing our journey to finally becoming a family of four.
