So the Savvy and Sassy family has been super busy packing up our home and we will be headed North. I've been using tons of my awesome Moving Box Labels, so hopefully the unpacking will be a breeze. In 15 days we will be leaving Florida and on our way to our new home in Georgia. Things may be quiet on this side for a bit but I will be back!!

For the fourth year in a row I will be taking my little one to a park to take special pictures for Father's Day. Check out last years post. I started this project when our daughter was a baby to give to my husband as a gift for his first Father's Day, one that I could build on each year. This is what I came up with. It is fairly simple (warning: getting your kids to cooperate may not be) and also inexpensive. Best of all the gift is priceless to my husband and he cherishes it.
I purchased two white letters (D & A) from Michaels for a few dollars each. Amazon has nicer white wood letters for $5.99. No need for a second D being that I was taking separate pictures anyways. I also found a 3 part frame at TJ Maxx for about $10. Amazon has a similar silver three part frame for $23.00. I always take bunch of pictures of Mia holding the letters. When I say a bunch, I literally mean a hundred. I pick out my two favorite D's and my favorite A and print at a one hour photo. (I actually print about 20 and decide at home later)
The hardest part of the whole project was trying to get a baby to smile the first year (not very successfully I might add) and a toddler hold still the second year (also a failure and you can see from her bright red cheeks and the sticker residue on the back of the letter). I recommend having your child wear clothes that are free from letters or characters. I think it makes for a better picture (less distraction) and puts the focus on your child and the DAD letters.
This gift is my husbands favorite Father's Day gift. He looks forward to receiving each year's update in his existing frame. These pictures are really special to me and I know this was a sentimental gift for him. I just placed the new pictures on top of the old ones. This Father's Day we will enjoy looking back at the pictures of our daughter and how much she has changed over the last three almost four years.
I am hoping for a clear morning to get out at take these pictures. Anyone else doing a similar photo project or have any other great Father's Day photo ideas?

School's out for summer!! This morning I dropped Mia of for what will be her last day of Preschool. Actually her last day of school in Florida as well. In August I wanted to start a special photo project for school. As you can see in this post, I had spray painted a canvas with chalkboard paint (both from Michaels) and decorated with some Ikea chalk onhand from Mia's easel.
I could not be happier I started this tradition. Today we took her last day of school pictures and my little girl has grown so much! This will be a tradition that continues.
Anyone else take pictures for the last day of school?

Memorial Day weekend went to the Good Neighbors Farmers Market in Oviedo, Florida (near Orlando) while visiting family. The farmers market also had a cute petting zoo with quite a few animals too. It was really hot and humid out but our little animal lover and sure enjoyed it.

Acclaimed singer and songwriter David Gray is releasing his latest album titled "Mutineers" next month. You may know David Gray for singing both "This Years Love" & "Babylon" (two of my favorite songs). This is his 10th studio recorded album but the first new release in four years. To mark the news, Gray has unveiled the video for ‘Gulls’, the first track from Mutineers to be streamed ahead of release.
Mutineers has been the only music I have listened to for days now. The entire album is enjoyable and time working flies by while listening to David Gray. The sound is refreshing and relaxing all at the same time. I love that it is enjoyable for everyone who is hearing it. An album with the quality of Mutineers is rare, I'm yet to push the next button to skip a song.
About David Gray and Mutineers
Recorded in Church Studios, London and produced by Andy Barlow (Lamb), whose brief was to not let Gray “make the same record I’ve made before.” The result is an album that seems to fizz with the joy of its own assembly and finds Gray steering into unfamiliar territory while cultivating a pugnacious but respectful relationship with his own history. “I know I’ve done something here that has an authority that is inspiring me and I don’t have to worry about my past or any of that. The lovely thing about this is we’ve had the time to experiment, and it’s been wonderful,” says Gray.
David Gray captured the world’s attention with his breakout multi-platinum hit White Ladder, the first of three No.1 UK albums, earning him both Brit and Grammy nominations. He has continued to build on this success, with recent albums Draw The Line (2009) and Foundling (2010), both reaching the Billboard Top 10 in the US.
David Gray's Mutineers can be purchased in Stores June 17th or online on iTunes as well as on Amazon.
